With a gift for drenching real lyrics in rich emotion, Toosii is one of rap’s most relatable new stars. The Syracuse-born, Raleigh-based artist is racking up accolades for practically everything he touches these days. Songs like “Red Lights,” “sapiosexual,” and “what it cost” have captured the public’s imagination—offering honest tales of street life and lost love, among other moving themes—and vaulted him from a lost kid surrounded by tragedy to a national sensation.

His 2021 mixtape, Thank You For Believing, came out to intense acclaim from tastemakers like The Fader, Complex, and The Source. XXL named him among their esteemed 2021 Freshman Class and hailed “5’5” (feat. Latto) as one of the “Best Hip-Hop Songs of 2021.” His songs are resonating with fans too. Toosiihas 5 million Instagram followers and over 1.5 million YouTube subscribers. He has amassed over 1 billion catalog streams and his 2020 single “Love Cycle” was RIAA-certified Platinum.

Toosii earned 2021 slots at Rolling Loud Miami & LA, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. He launched his first headline tour in the fall, which included sold-out shows in New York City, Chicago, Washington, DC, Boston, Houston, and Orlando. The deluxe edition of his latest mixtape, Thank You For Believing: The Manifestation, welcomed even more electrifying guest spots from artists like Fivio Foreign and Hotboii. It was a victory lap of sorts, but Toosii’s showing no signs of slowing down. He closed out 2021 with his tribute to women everywhere, the three-song capsule Pretty Girls Love Toosii.

In October 2022, Toosii released his latest EP Boys Don’t Cry: Men Do, which features viral hit single “Love is…”, then he went back in the studio to wrap up recording his upcoming debut album. In the midst of recording, his single “Favorite Song” resonated with fans and new listeners alike. The track hit No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rap Streaming Songs chart, entered the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally and is currently in the top 10 at rhythm radio. Combined global streams of the song have surpassed 112 million while the audio has been featured in over three million global TikTok creations, earning more than 28 million combined views.
